Who is lawyer James Comey?
Born James Brien Comey Jr. on the 14th December 1960 in Yonkers, New York USA, he is a lawyer, but probably best known to the world for serving as the 7th Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 2013 until 2017, when President Donald Trump controversially dismissed him from his duties.
Early Life, Family, and Education
Of Irish ancestry, James was born into a family of law enforcers, his father James Sr. being a councilman, and his grandfather, William J. Comey, a commissioner of the Yonkers Police Department. He spent his early years in Yonkers, but then moved with his family to Allendale, New Jersey in the ‘70s, where James went to Northern Highlands Regional High School. After matriculating, he enrolled at the College of William and Mary, graduating with a double major in chemistry and religion in 1982, following which he continued on to the University of Chicago Law School, from which he earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1985.
Soon after qualifying, James found a job as a law clerk for John M. Walker in Manhattan, who at the time worked as US District Judge. After a while, he became an associate for the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, working in their New York office.
Career at Law
Two years after finishing his law studies, James began work in the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, and remained in position until 1993. One of the major trials on which he worked was the prosecution of the Gambino crime family.

In 1996, James became Managing Assistant US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, in charge of the Richmond Division, and remained in position until in 2002 becoming USAttorney for the Southern District of New York. In December 2003 he was promoted to the position of the new US Deputy Attorney General, a position he held until August 2005, when he decided to quit his government office, and join Lockheed Martin Corp as senior vice president and general counsel, which increased his net worth to a large degree.

Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation
He remained out of government until 2013, when then-president Barack Obama nominated him as the new Director of the FBI, over Lisa Monaco. He remained as Director until May 2017, when President Donald Trump fired him.
James Comey Controversies
During his time as the Director, James was involved in several controversies, including in 2015 an investigation into Democratic presidential nominee Hilary Clinton’s use of a private email server for ostensibly public business, and whether this jeopardized national security – this and a further inquiry shortly before the election found that it had not done so. He then began investigating alleged Russian attempts to influence the 2016 presidential election, apparently in favour of Trump. Unfortunately, the former outcome and latter proceedings did not see him become popular with the President, and led to him being removed from his post, just three and a half years into his supposed 10-year tenure.
After his dismissal, James made public his FBI memo which among much other classified information contained details about the investigation into Michael Flynn, the former National Security Advisor who had been fired for apparently misleading Vice-President Pense over meetings with the Russian ambassador to the US.
A Higher Loyalty
With his dismissal, James started writing an autobiography and a number of publishers auctioned for rights to his book, and he eventually, he signed a deal with Macmillan Publishers’ Flatiron Books, and the book entitled “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership”, was released in April 2018. Just a week after the release, the book had sold more than 600,000 copies, and even before the official release, the book became top-seller on Amazon, and contributed significantly to James’ net worth, although drawing a predictably negative reaction from the White House.

Life Behind the Scenes
When it comes to his personal life, James has been rather open about it. He has been married to Patrice Failor since 1987, and the couple has five children together, including a son who died while an infant.
James was raised as a Roman Catholic, but has joined the United Methodist Church, and has taught Sunday school.
With all the controversies which have surfaced, James has become quite a popular person on the internet; he has primarily used Twitter to speak with his supporters, numbering close to a million people. Many of his tweets went viral, mostly related to his troubles with FBI, and President Donald Trump, including:
Dangerous time when our country is led by those who will lie about anything, backed by those who will believe anything, based on information from media sources that will say anything. Americans must break out of that bubble and seek truth.

I know the New York FBI. There are no “stormtroopers” there; just a group of people devoted to the rule of law and the truth. Our country would be better off if our leaders tried to be like them, rather than comparing them to Nazis.

He has also used Instagram but to a lesser extent, as he has only around 70,000 followers on this social media platform. Pictures of his personal life seem to have quite interested the public, plus details about his career. Anyways, if you aren’t already a fan of this somewhat controversial personality, this is a great opportunity for you to become one.
