Gradually, his skills improved, and before he was 20, he was already a fishing boat captain. He would start as a deck boss, and after a few years, he progressed to a position of boat’s engineer and sub-captain as well, before he gained that much trust to become a captain himself.
He started on the boat called Rambling Rose, on which he sailed into the show “Deadliest Catch” in 2005. Elliot’s temper was always a problem; he would express his anger on his girlfriend and children which would lead to their separation. Elliot’s life spiraled down into drug and alcohol abuse, and he was left without a ship and family as well. He started a new life by admitting himself into a Malibu rehabilitation clinic where he spent 60 days, and continued his rehabilitation by becoming a part of the Ibogaine detox program in late 2016. Although cured, Elliot decided not to return to the “Deadliest Catch”, and since then he has been out of the spotlight, traveling, fishing and surfing with his new girlfriend, Erika Fridenbergs.
